FRANK DE LEON, JR. - ARCHITECTURAL DRAFTER

My senior year of High School.

in 1999' I took my first drafting class, with a Mr. Dawson, during my senior year at Santa Maria High School.

My first drafting class was a step into a "manual drafting" world now long forgotten.  Rows of elevated giant desks with smooth green tops, mechanical T-Squares, 3 sided architectural scale rulers, the 30, 60, 90 triangle, and the unmistakable

smell of drafting powder in the air.

The only computer in the class was a stand-alone (non-networked computer) used by the instructor for admin/grading purposes and not for CAD.

With the passing of time new computer programs and workflows have taken over the manual drawing techniques and tools I had used to visually communicate my ideas. As the tools evolved, through the use of CAD, BIM, and rendering programs, so has my ability to express and present my ideas digitally.

Over the years my understanding and appreciation of architecture have grown exponentially.  Although 100% of my projects are now completed on a computer, 90% still start off with a piece of paper, pens, and

a parti (sic).

Please explore my Architect Portfolio to see the transfiguration of notable past projects.

PARTI (SIC)

The term "parti pris," usually shortened to "parti," literally translates as "departure point," but in architect lingo ...

It signifies an architect's overall guiding idea for a design...

While not every design starts with a parti pris, it's typically better when it does.
